Art is everywhere. It is in an absent minded doodle, a photograph of friends and in a simple, yet captivating guitar riff.
Britain is teeming with artistic talent of all kinds and over the next few weeks the Noise Festival intends to root out this talent and discover the young artists who create it.
You can witness the creative process live, right here in this very space. I will be rigorously sifting the net for creative talent and informing you of any gems I discover each day. Links from this blog will take you directly to their spaces so you can check out their art for yourself. So if you’re artistically inclined, and want to submit some creations, you can sniff out the competition right here. Alternatively, art lovers who are lacking in the creative department themselves can follow the progress of the Noise Festival and admire the talent of others.
My top talent discovery of the day has to be 23 year old Vasssos from Hull. His impressive photography collection features classic black and white prints as well as strikingly colourful images. It includes breathtaking landscapes and also more poignant human pieces.
Vosssos is a master of skylines and his range features sunsets, moonlights, summer and winter skies. But predominantly, he shows how overcast skies are anything but dull, and in fact the most colourful and striking of all heavenly creations.
What is most impressive about Vosssos’s photography is the way everyday objects take on an exceptional quality. Have a look at ‘Ashtray’, in which the daylight plays across the glass angles and billowing smoke.
One of my personal favourites is a black and white print of cupped human hands, in which a delicate white feather is resting. The smoothness and delicacy of the feather contrasts strikingly with the strong contours of the hands.
Vosssos frequently incorporates bursts of colour into classic black and white photography, creating an astonishing effect. Check out ‘offer’, in which black and white hands are holding a bright red flower.
Vasssos’s photography is just one example of the creative talent Britain has to offer, and there are many more of you out there. So if you have a flair for fine art, a passion for fashion or, indeed, a talent for anything arty, what are you waiting for? If you’re under 25 and think you can cut it in the Noise Festival, submit you’re work now!
Find out whose taking part right here, as well as catching up on all the news and views on the Noise Festival every day.
